Engineer's Guide to Cats

Earthsea

We just watched this miniseries from the Sci-Fi channel.
We both really enjoy science fiction and sometimes fantasy.
Science fiction and fantasy are oftne lumped in together.
I am not so much into fantasy but can handle some of it.

This morning I found some YouTube movie clips.
Because I did enjoy it so much wanted to share these.
Also of note is Official Sci Fi Legend of Earthsea site.
And from wikipedia: Earthsea, Characters, Islands

The actors may be familiar from other sci fi endeavours.
The main character, Ged, is Shawn Ashmore aka Iceman
Best friend, Vetch, is Chris Gauthier, Eureka's Vincent.
Lady Elfarren is Amanda Tapping, Stargate's Samantha.

Scene 1 - 6:51 minutes

Scene 2a (2:27) and Scene 2b (4:23)

Scene 3 - 6:07 minutes

Scene 4 (0:51) and Scene 5 (3:30)

Considered E of HUMORE for entertainment value.

Natalie Portman movies

We decided to watch Natalie Portman movies.
She is a contemporary favorite of Randy's.
I like what I have seen of hers.

Closer (2004) - (independent) romantic drama
Natalie's Alice starts and ends with Jude Law's Dan.
Julia Roberts' Anna starts/ends with Clive Owen's Larry.

Garden State (2004) - romantic comedy
A mother's death brings a troubled young man back home.
While there he falls in love with Natalie's character.

Mars Attacks! (1996) - comedy sci-fi fantasy thriller
It's a Tim Burton movie with Jack Nicholson as President.
Glenn Close is the first lady and Natalie the first daughter.
Other greats: Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito,
Martin Short, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Michael J. Fox.
Following is 1996 Theatrical Trailer for Mars Attack! (2:21)

Earth Hour

That's today - actually tonight from 8-9 PM.
It's a global effort to have everyone turn off their lights ....
to make a positive impact on climate change.

Songs of Easter

Enjoy this video for the next week as I take a blog break.
The artist is Sandi Patty which is a Christian favorite of mine.
I picked this video because I love the song The Old Rugged Cross.
Via Dolorosa is Latin for "Way of Grief" or "Way of Suffering".

Weird Games of Maine

March 9th Maine Sunday Telegram:
Let the (weird Maine) games begin
I doubt that we are any weirder than others.
Just different people from different areas
do different things for fun and sport.
What some Mainers do by season:

Winter: Belt Sander Racing (2:04)

Spring: Maine Mud Runs (2:49)

Summer: Lobster Boat Racing (3:03)

Fall: Giant Pumpkin Regatta (no good video worth sharing)

Everywhere in Maine

I found this MUST POST video over at YouTube.
Especially the beginning with all the snow!

Jim Brickman love songs

When looking up love songs on YouTube for Randy.
Love of My Life was written by Jim Brickman.
Of all things he was born and raised in Ohio.
He started his career writing tunes for Jim Henson.

Other YouTube videos featuring his songs:
Your Love Is the Greatest Gift of All (with Michelle Wright)
The Love I Found in You
(My) Destiny (clicks from Shrek)

With Olivia Newton-John:
Change of Heart
My Valentine
I Honestly Love You

When God Made You

Happy Valentine's Day, Randy, my beloved.
Last Valentine's Day was our first phone conversation.
And this year we are happily married now for two and a half months.

Endless Love

For my love, Randy.

Love of My Life

Randy, YOU, are the love of my life!!!!!
I found this song by Jim Brickman listed as
one of the Top 10 Christian Wedding and Love Songs.

This version is sung by Donny Osmond.
And the clips are from Scarecrow and Mrs. King.
I thought this appropriate since we are in our forties.

I found another similarly titled song on YouTube.
It is titled Love of My Life (The Wedding Song).
It was written by Darla Day and music by Mark Phillips.

Because of You

Because of you there's a song in my heart
Because of you my romance had its start
Because of you the sun will shine
The moon and stars will say you're mine
Forever and never to part

I only live for your love and your kiss
It's paradise to be near you like this
Because of you my life is now worthwhile
And I can smile
Because of you

Posted this for my loving husband, Randy

Eternal Flame

Something for my hubby now that he got the speaker and printer hooked back up on the desktop PC. I've always liked this song by the Bangles. Since Randy does like some anime thought the version with couples from Final Fantasy X would be cool. I love you, Randy, the love of my life.
